Vande Bharat Latest News: Indian Railways is reportedly mulling to reduce the fares of a few short-distance Vande Bharat trains, registering low occupancy.
Railway officials stated that the fares for some Vande Bharat trains will be reduced to attract more tourists.
An official familiar with the matter said, “Fares of Vande Bharat trains on the Indore-Bhopal, Bhopal-Jabalpur, Nagpur-Bilaspur routes and a few more are being reviewed and may be reduced for attracting more travellers. According to end of June data, the Bhopal-Indore Vande Bharat service recorded just 29 per cent occupancy whereas the return journey of Indore-Bhopal Vande Bharat Express had only 21 per cent occupancy. The journey between the two cities takes around three hours.”
Vande Bharat Fares At Present
- The fares for the Vande Bharat Express vary depending on the train route, class of travel, and direction of travel. A passenger traveling in the AC Chair car on the Indore-Bhopal Vande Bharat Express will pay ₹950 for a one-way ticket, while a passenger traveling in the Executive Chair car will pay ₹1,525.
- On the Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express, the fare for the Executive Chair car is ₹2,045, while the fare for the Chair Car is ₹1,075.
- The fare for an AC Chair car on the Bhopal-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express is ₹1,055, and the fare for an Executive Chair car is ₹1,880.
In the return journey, the fares are slightly different. For example, the fare for an AC Chair car on the Indore-Bhopal Vande Bharat Express is ₹955, while the fare for an Executive Chair car is ₹1,790. So far, 46 Vande Bharat Express services have reached all rail-electrified states of the country. Encompassing a total of 24 states and Union territories, the Vande Bharat Express fleet has been ever-growing owing to its time-saving feature, which saves an average of an hour in comparison to other trains.
