PM Modi to file nomination from Varanasi sharp at 11.40 am today. Why?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will file his nomination from the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The PM is seeking a third consecutive term from Varanasi which will go to polls on June 1 in the seventh and final phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

A decade ago, when he first came to Varanasi to file his nomination, the PM had delivered the memorable “Mujhe Maa Ganga ne bulaya hain speech”.

Ahead of filing his nomination, PM Modi may seek the blessings of Mother Ganga at Dashaswamedh Ghat. He may then travel to Namo Ghat by cruise and then go to Kaal Bhairav Temple at Kashi Kotwal. After worshipping at the temple, he will move to the Collectorate Office for filing the nomination. He will reportedly file his nomination around 11.40 am as the time coincides with Abhijit Mahurat and Anand Yog.

Why did the PM choose 11.40 am?

According to astrology, Abhijit Muhurat is the eighth muhurat of the day, occurring between the sunrise and the sunset. Pushya Nakshatra will begin at 11.23 am on May 13 and continue till 1.05 pm on May 14, followed by an Ashlesha Nakshatra. As per his horoscope, these constellations are favourable for the PM. The day also coincides with Ganga Saptami. It is believed that Goddess Ganga comes down to earth on this day to bless her devotees. May 14 holds significance due to the conjunction of Ganga Saptami and Pushya Nakshatra. Any task undertaken on this day is expected to be successful and leads to the fulfillment of one’s wish.

Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the PM had filed his nomination at the Collectorate Office in Varanasi around 11.44 am on April 26.
