Apple Watches have made a solid place for themselves in the market with the introduction of new and some life-saving features. One of the features that we can see in Apple Watches and the one which can save hundreds of lives is its Fall Detection feature.
The company introduced this feature in Apple watches back in 2018 coinciding with the launch of the Apple Watch Series 4. Since its launch, this feature has never failed to garner attention for its amazing capabilities.
Recently, the feature has once again proven why it is so special. An Apple Watch user recently shared his experience with using the device. The 82-year-old individual shared the story of his life being saved after being hit by a car in the UK. According to a report by Apple Insider, the elderly man received an Apple Watch as a Christmas gift, and it proved instrumental in his life-saving ordeal.
How Did Apple Watch Save The Man’s Life?
The incident took place this year on January 19 at a roundabout in Kidderminster, UK, where Tony Jauncey was crossing the road. Jauncey got hit by a car in the wrong lane. The impact of the crash resulted in a broken collarbone, cracked ribs, and bruising for the man. Right after the hit, the Apple Watch that the man was wearing triggered an alert to emergency services.
While talking about the incident, Jauncey said, “I was walking back to my car which was parked in Aldi and was crossing the road when I felt a thud.” He continued, “The next thing I saw was the bumper of a car in front of me… I was lying in the road, I was not able to move.”
He recalled how the watch detected the fall and asked whether he wanted to call emergency services at that point in time or not. He left the alert unchanged following which the watch automatically dialed the authorities. The man said that if he wasn’t in need of immediate assistance then he could have cancelled the alarm as well.
