With its seven pivotal parliamentary constituencies, Delhi holds a crucial sway in national politics. Traditionally, the capital has been a battleground for the BJP and Congress, but since 2013, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as a formidable contender.
Despite the BJP’s sweeping victories in both the 2014 and 2019 general elections, clinching all seven seats and securing 56.86% of the vote share in 2019, the Congress and AAP have maintained significant footholds, securing 22.51% and 18.11% of the votes, respectively.

In late February, after weeks of negotiations, Congress and AAP reached a seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming elections.
Under this agreement, AAP will contest in four constituencies: East Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi, and New Delhi. Congress will field candidates in the remaining three constituencies: Chandni Chowk, North East Delhi, and North West Delhi.
As part of their alliance in Delhi, AAP has fielded Kuldeep Kumar in East Delhi, Mahabal Mishra in West Delhi, Somnath Bharti in New Delhi, and Sahi Ram Pahalwan in South Delhi. Meanwhile, Congress has nominated J P Agarwal for Chandni Chowk, Kanhaiya Kumar for North East Delhi, and Udit Raj for North West Delhi.
